Our Purpose Statement
Preparing God’s People to Share Christ’s Love

“To prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”

Our Core Values

  1. It is our desire that Flat Creek Baptist Church is becoming more like Jesus Christ each and every day
    • Jesus was totally committed to obeying God’s will and was, at the same time, the most caring, loving, and forgiving person who ever walked on earth. Wherever he went, people were drawn to Him. From our Senior Staff to the newest member of our fellowship, we strive for maturity in the fullness of Christ; that all who encounter the ministry of Flat Creek Baptist Church be drawn to Him.
    • John 12:32 -“But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself.”

  2. At Flat Creek Baptist Church, our first ministry priority is worship
    • We desire worship to be Spirit-led and Christ-centered.
    • We desire Sunday morning worship to be the highlight of each person’s week… the most inspiring and exciting time of the week.
    • We believe personal worship through daily quiet time is the key preparation activity for corporate worship.
    • Revelation 4:11 -“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for your created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”

  3. As Great Commission Christians, we desire to reach the world for Jesus Christ
    • Our Jerusalem is Fayette and Coweta Counties.
    • Our Judea is the State of Georgia.
    • Our Samaria is the United States and North America.
    • The ends of the earth are the four corners of the planet: north, south, east and west.
    • We see prayer, giving, going and partnerships as the four major keys for reaching our world for Christ.
    • Acts 1:8 -“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

  4. We believe preaching and teaching the Word of God to be central to discipling believers
    • We believe God’s Word is perfect truth in its entirety.
    • We believe in teaching God’s Word in every ministry to every age.
    • We are dependant upon the Holy Spirit to reveal the relevance of God’s Word to us in everyday life.
    • II Timothy 3:16 -“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”

  5. We believe in an unchanging message while being committed to ever-changing methodologies
    • We believe that the message and doctrines of the church never change but methodologies of ministry may change continually under the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
    • I Thessalonians 5:19 -“Do not put out the Spirit’s fire.”

  6. We strive for a “Kingdom Vision” for ministry
    • Under God’s leadership we will work to build up and cooperate with other Christ-centered, Bible-believing evangelical ministries.
    • Philippians 1:27 -“Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel…”

  7. We desire to be faithful stewards of God’s gifts to us
    • We believe that it is the responsibility of the church and its members to be faithful stewards of all the resources God has entrusted to them.
    • Malachi 3:10 -“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour our so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.”

  8. We recognize prayer as our power source
    • Every effort we put forth must be under-girded with prayer.
    • John 15:5 -“I am the vive; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

  9. We want to do ministry with excellence
    • We must put forth our best effort in every endeavor.
    • Philippians 4:8 -“Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.”

  10. We practice “Second Mile” servant ministry
    • We believe in servant ministry to our members that always seeks to go the “second mile.” Our members will be treated better than the best business would treat their regular customers.
    • We believe in servant ministry to our prospects that always seeks to go the “second mile”. Our guests will be treated better than the best business would treat their potential customers.
    • We believe in servant ministry with, and to, all ages. Our Ministerial Staff and Program Leaders are called to lead, recruit, teach and train people to do ministry, but every Christian is called to be a minister.
    • Matthew 5:41 -“If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.”


Statement of Faith

  1. God The Father
  2. We believe, love and worship the one and only unchanging, sovereign, and loving God, the Creator and Ruler of all things in heaven and earth. God is manifest in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  3. Jesus Christ, The Son
  4. Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, is God in the flesh. He is the Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, fully God, fully man, sinless. He died on the cross in our place for our sins, was buried, resurrected from the dead, ascended into heaven, and now sits at the right hand of God the Father, as our Advocate, and will return to judge the living and the dead.

  5. The Holy Spirit
  6. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, exalting Christ and convicting us of our sin and need for Jesus Christ. He fully lives in every believer from the moment of salvation. He comforts, teaches and empowers us to live in righteousness. He equips every believer with spiritual gifts for service in the Body of Christ.

  7. Man
  8. Man is made in the image of God – created to worship God, to glorify Him, and to have dominion over the earth. Sin separates man from God and man is eternally doomed unless he receives salvation in Jesus Christ.

  9. Salvation
  10. Since all persons are separated from God by sin and are in need of forgiveness, God offers the free gift of salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ. Each person must individually accept this gift, repent of sin, and place their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

  11. Eternal Security of the Believer
  12. We believe our true salvation, provided by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ alone, is eternally secure. It is imperishable and no man or circumstance can snatch us out of the powerful hand of God because Jesus Christ has made an everlasting covenant with us.

  13. The Bible
  14. The Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God given to reveal God and His will to man. The Bible has God as its author, salvation for its end, and truth without any mixture of error. The Bible is the sole authority for Christian living.

  15. Priesthood of the Believer
  16. Every believer is a minister and has direct access to God through the high priest, Jesus Christ.

  17. The Church
  18. Jesus Christ is the head of His Body, the Church. The body of Christ is composed of believers. The purpose of the Church is to carry out His mission in the world and is best lived out in local, autonomous churches.

  19. Baptism and The Lord’s Supper
  20. Baptism by immersion follows Christ’s example, symbolizing death, burial and resurrection to new life in Christ. It serves as a testimony of faith after accepting Christ as personal Savior and Lord. The Lord’s Supper is an act of obedience and a testimony of faith. It symbolically memorializes the death of Jesus Christ. Self-examination and confession of sins should precede participation in the Lord’s Supper.

  21. Church Leadership
  22. God calls individuals, whose lives best exemplify the biblical qualifications of the position of pastor, ministerial staff and deacon, to lead the local body. They are selected and affirmed by the local body after prayerful consideration. Leaders are called by God to uphold church doctrine and to live lives worthy of respect. The local church is called to submit to their authority.

  23. Church Discipline
  24. We believe that the Bible teaches church discipline. God disciplines those He loves (Hebrews 12). He uses the leadership of the church to prayerfully administer His discipline (Galatians 6:1) according to scripture (Matthew 18:15-18 and I Corinthians 5:1-13). Discipline is administered in hope of restoring the one who has fallen into sin back to a right relationship with God and the church.

Membership Expectations

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied”

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

  1. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind by:
    • Spending regular time alone with God in personal prayer and Bible study.
    • Joshua 1:7-8; Psalm 1:2; Mark 1:35; Luke 5:16; Acts 2:42; Philippians 4:6

    • Faithfully attending weekly worship.
    • Acts 2:1-46; Acts 14:27-28; Hebrews 10:24-25

    • Faithfully attending weekly Bible study.
    • Isaiah 55:8-11; Acts 2:1; II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21

    • Committing to obey God’s Word in scripture through the conviction and interpretation of the Holy Spirit.
    • Psalm 1; Matthew 7:24; John 8:31-32; James 1:22-25

    • Loving God and not money. Being a tither is the basic minimum in faithful giving.

  2. Love your neighbor as yourself by:
    • Loving one another in the body of Christ.
    • Matthew 19:19; John 13:34-35; John 15:12-14; I Corinthians 13:1-12

    • Being a positive and fruitful witness for Christ.
    • Matthew 5:14-16; Matthew 28:16-20; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 5:8-9; Ephesians 5:22-6:4
